Charles Friedrichs has been a Lecturer of Music at San
Diego State University since 1983. He currently is the Associate Director of Bands and the
Assistant Director of Music Education. During his tenure at SDSU, he has taught a wide
variety of classes including music theory, brass methods, music education practicum, music
for classroom teachers, brass literature, ear training, general education music courses,
as well as serving as a Music Supervisor for cadet teachers in SDSU's School of Education.
In addition to his classroom duties, he conducts two concert bands, the University Pep
Band, and co-conducts the Marching Aztecs. Charles has had vast experience teaching
school instrumental music at all levels and continues to remain extremely active in the
public schools. |

He is in demand as a concert
and marching band clinician and adjudicator. When his schedule permits,
he continues to go out to the public schools and teach Jr. High Band.
Recently, he was the long-term guest clinician at Bernardo Heights Middle
School, Poway Unified School District. Charles is also busy as an
arranger. He has written numerous arrangements spanning grade levels from
elementary to university. Many of his arrangements are for concert
bands and marching bands. His compositions have been published by Hal
Leonard Music Corporation, Jalen Publications, Matrix Music, and MESA
Music Publishers. |
