MEET OUR 2009 MARCHING AZTECS

MICHAEL

DRUMLINE COACH

Michael Atesalp is an accomplished Instructor and Performer. Michael’s instructional credits include the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, the Anaheim Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and the WGI World Champion Clovis West High School Percussion Ensemble. Michael currently instructs the San Diego State Aztec Drum Line and the SDSU Indoor Marching Percussion Ensemble. Michael’s accomplishments include Championships at DCI, WGI, WSMBC/WBA, SCPA, ADLA and the Fiesta Bowl National Pageant of Bands. As a performer, Michael is a former member of the famed Blue Devils “Q-5” Tenor Line and has performed with Reggae/Pop sensations “Big Mountain”. Michael also performs on drum set and percussion with various national and regional acts including his own Afro Cuban-Funk band !PRISA! Michael proudly enjoys relationships with DYNASTY, Vic Firth, SABIAN, Aquarian Drumheads and Rhythm Tech. |
CHRISTOPHER DYE - COLORGUARD COACH

Christopher Dye is in his fourth year teaching Colorguard and Wintergurad for the SDSU Marching Aztecs and Aztec winterguard. Chris's marching experience includes: Hickman Mills HS World winterguard, 1997 & 1998 Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, and 1994 Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Chris also marched and taught the 1997 and 1998 Sky Ryders Independant 'A' winterguard and marched 2003 Infiniti Independant World winterguard.
Chris has over 10 years of experience teaching successful high school and college guards including: Westview HS, San Diego, Providence HS and South Meck HS in Charlotte, NC. Fort Osage HS, Hickman Mills HS and Sky Ryders Winterguard in Kansas City, Mo., and taught several years at the University of Kansas summer colorguard camp.

SARAH MCALLISTER - DANCE TEAM COACH

We're proud to introduce our newest staff member, Sarah McAllister. Sarah has been dancing since the age of five at Ramona/Julian Academy of Dance where she later went on to teach all levels of hip hop and pom. As the head coach and choreographer for the nationally ranked Ramona High School Song/Dance Team since 2006, she has received four Innovative Choreography Awards from the National Dance Alliance. Sarah has additionally choreographed for the SD Gulls Girls, Ramona HS Cheer and Granite Hills HS. She has also performed in "Breaking Boundaries" at Grossmont College and with the Garage Dance Co. She is currently pursuing a career in dance and choreography, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the dancers at SDSU.
